Super Bowl is the apex of the NFL season, bringing to the field of football battle the champions from each of the two conferences.

On February 7, 2010, the champions of the AFC, the Indianapolis Colts will meet the New Orleans Saints, champions of the NFC, and in the end only one team will claim the SuperBowl XLIV trophy.

This is the first time that the New Orleans Saints will be playing in the Super Bowl.  Though they have a long history peppered with losses and near-misses, this season has proved nothing short of astonishing.  The Saints won 13 consecutive games, lost 3 games, coming up 13-3 for their best season ever.  The end is not yet here though, as they stand to make history by playing in the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl glory won’t come easily for them though.  They are up against the Indianapolis Colts, a team that is no stranger to the Super Bowl, itself having 2 Super Bowl championships under its belt.  What’s more, they have Peyton Manning on their roster.  He is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league’s history, with accurate long passes and excellent overall game skills.

Originally, the Colts were the Baltimore Colts, and not Indianapolis.  The team moved to Indianapolis in 1984 and they have been there ever since.  But that’s old history.  What’s more important is new history and the history that has yet to be made.  Who will emerge victorious from Super Bowl XLIV?  Will it be the Saints, whose magical streak may just continue to the end?  Or will it be the Colts, who are charging forward as strong as ever?
